What is VoIP

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is a relatively recent technology, which in simple terms allows voice calls to be made over the Internet. The calls are converted into data packets and sent via the Internet to a device such as; a phone, router or server. VoIP is popular because it allows people to make calls between computers or other VoIP handsets free of charge. It also integrates more readily with modern systems and allows for increased options of usability; for example routing calls or answer phone to email conversion.
